I am constantly surprised at the all the amazing things this small sailing club accomplishes. We maybe small but we act like a much larger club. I was recently looking at the MYC Facebook page, the stories are great. If you do not have Facebook it would be worth joining just to follow MYC. I have included a few recent post below to share with those of you who are not the social media types.
I was thinking what makes this club so amazing. To name a few; the location, the lake, and the different types of boats we sail, the club house.... While all these contribute to the clubs greatness they are not the reason this club is such a nice place. The reason is the people! The people at MYC make it great! We have people involved in their given fleets at a national level, we have people starting new fleets, people volunteering to help in every aspect of the clubs activities.
I would like to thank all of you who take time make MYC GREAT! It is everyone who spend time at the work parties, doing your duties. Above all it is people who are behind the scenes doing all the little extras helping with regattas, safety seminars and social events etc. Keep up the great work! If you are new to the club or have not been active in awhile jump in, it is a lot of fun and you too can help make MYC GREAT!

Thanks to all the organizers and Instructors who worked so hard today to deliver the seminars to new MYC members on safety and race committee duties.
I have been a member of various sailing clubs on two continents for more years than I care to admit but it's a rare pleasure to find a club that takes the trouble to train new members so well in such important topics.

We had 29 boats for the 8th Annual MYC Small Boat Regatta on Saturday 5/30/2015. With 18 Sunfish, 8 Lasers and 3 RS Aeros, competition was fierce in the sunny 80-degree weather with winds gusting to 21 knots. Skippers came from Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New York and New Hampshire. Dwight Escalera from Rhode Island won the Laser Division, Eric Aker from Massachusetts won the RS Aero Disivion, John Houstle from MYC won the Sunfish Challenger Division and Dan Hesse from New York won the Sunfish Championship Division. A great day for all!

We couldn't see much good in the winter snows when they were causing
us to be locked in our homes, but when the snow went down,
we found that it had filled ourlake with wonderful water to sail in.
The following year we had the best sailing we'd ever had.
I like to blame Mike Goldstein and the Lake Committee for telling us last year to hope for lots of long lasting snow to bring the lake back to normal levels. After record low lake levels last year, we lucky are approaching a record snow fall this winter. So as you look outside at all that cold snow keep some good thoughts in your mind of all the excellent sailing that is approaching. We are only a little over a month away from the Spring Work Party and the ice is always gone at the work party. I look forward to seeing you all in April let’s make this a great year at Massapoag Yacht Club!
