Due to low water levels resulting in danger to the larger
boats and the resulting lack of interest, the remainder of
the Fall series on Sundays has been canceled. This does
not affect the Saturday small boat sailing, which will
continue. It is recommended that boats be pulled off their
mooring as soon as possible. The town ramp (as of Oct 19)
is still servicable if you would prefer to retrieve your boat there.

2009 US Sailing's "One Design Club of the Year!"

MYC's Fleet 76 is 2014 Flying Scot Fleet of the Year for the 3rd time in 8 years having also been awarded this honor in 2006 and 2012.

65th Annual MYC Regatta 9/6-9/7/2014 -  We had 16 Flying Scots, 2 Day Sailers, 16 Lasers and 24 Sunfish on Lake Massapoag this weekend for our annual regatta.  With challenging conditions on Saturday, really hot with winds howling and gusting, we managed 4 races for the Flying Scots and more for the smaller boats.  Onshore teams were ready at all times with refreshments, food, water, other beverages - whatever we needed to feel better!  We actually consumed 700+ bottles of water just on Saturday!   Let's not forget the awesome lobster, chicken and steak tip buffet dinner served by our caterer on Saturday night followed by our famous make-your-own-sundae bar!

Sunday was more civilized on the water and we managed 2 more races for the Flying Scots and Day Sailers, and ended up with 9 races overall for the Lasers and the Sunfish.   We loved having everyone and will be looking to improve how we manage this many boats on and off the lake and keeping the fleets separated during racing. Come back next year and you'll see.  The winners were: Flying Scot A Jim Cavanagh and crew John Houstle, Flying Scot B - Harvey Davidson with crew Dave Levy, Day Sailers - Bob Gaffney with crew Emily Szczypek, Lasers - John Saltmarsh, Sunfish A - Kevin Buruchian, and Sunfish B - Rick Schlosser.   Full results are here.  Pictures are here.

Boat Safety Lesson - Recently, MYC members were involved in another rescue on Lake Massapoag - read the details here

Randy, Connie and John            Greg and Dave

Three teams entered the 14th Annual Women Skippers Regatta and eight Skippers entered the 9th Annual Single Handed Regatta on a beautiful and sunny Labor Day 2014. With light to moderate shifty winds, each group completed 3 races. Connie Eckart with crew John Eckart won the Women's and Dave Rousseau won the Single Handed. Thanks to PROs Randy Rubinstein and Greg Kampf and crews for doing a great job getting in the races! Full results are here: http://www.sailmyc.org/Racing/MYCRaceResults.aspx

Massapoag's Kevin Buruchian came in 3rd at the 2014 Sunfish Northeast Regional Championship held at the Wequaquet Lake Yacht Club. On April 15 we remember all who were lost and injured in the marathon bombing a year ago and we celebrate the city that stayed Boston Strong.  Let's say thanks to Club member David Ryan, a Globe photographer, who was a finalist for a Pulitzer prize for his poignant photos taken on that day.
